It was the match that gave birth to “Hulkamania.” In Madison Square Garden, Hogan challenged the villainous Iron Sheik for the WWF title. Hogan, riding a rave of popularity thanks to his appearance in Rocky III, powered out of the Sheik’s vaunted camel clutch, and then beat the champion with his now-iconic leg drop. Just like that, Hogan became the new face of the WWF and of professional wrestling. WWE is planning to hold a 40th anniversary celebration of Hulkamania. The special month-long celebration will include new merchandise items and collectibles based around Hulk Hogan and his Hulkamania reign over WWE. Today, we celebrate the Hulkster by sharing our favorite memories and moments from when Hulkamania was running wild!

In 1987 the WWF introduced a brand new pay-per-view event known as Survivor Series. It, along with, WrestleMania, Summerslam, and the Royal Rumble would become one of "The Big 4" events of the year for the World Wrestling Federation. It had a unique format of pitting teams of 5 Superstars against eachother in an elimination style match. Who would be the Survivors? Today we look back at Survivor Series 1987!
